The Pursuit of Wisdom

Wisdom is a word that holds great gravitas, yet it’s not easy to define. One could speak of different categories of wisdom, perhaps. Emotional wisdom. Intellectual wisdom. Spiritual wisdom. Maybe even physical wisdom.

Emotional wisdom could be defined as mastery of our emotions; knowing what our different emotions are, what causes them, and how best to express them.

Intellectual wisdom could be defined as a combination of knowledge, understanding, and wit. It is something that is partly gifted, and partly developed through study and hard work, whether academic or otherwise.

Spiritual wisdom could be defined as mastery of the immaterial, and is closely connected with emotional wisdom.

Physical wisdom could be defined as living healthily in our bodies.

I have offered a few definitions of different types of wisdom as food for thought, but you may well have your own definitions. Of course, God alone is truly wise and understands these things far better than any human could.

My counselling practice is a safe space in which counsellor and client can pursue any or all of these different types of wisdom.
