The counselling sessions that I offer will usually last for fifty minutes unless agreed otherwise. At present, sessions are normally carried out over the telephone or via Zoom, though for people local to me in London there is the possibility of meeting in person.
We’ll begin with an administration segment of around 10 minutes, during which time we will complete obligatory paperwork, make plans for the content of the session, and discuss any questions or concerns.
We’ll then engage in the counselling segment of the session, which will last for thirty minutes (time-keeping is the responsibility of the counsellor) and will give clients the opportunity to bring their concerns and enter into a therapeutic discussion. My role as a counsellor is to listen in an understanding way and offer occasional words of encouragement or advice, based on experience, that might be helpful. The aim is that each session will lead to growth, healing, or reassurance, and the session should end with the client feeling more empowered to face the challenges in their life moving forward.
Each session will close with a final ten-minute segment. This is for wind down, discussion, planning, and the arrangement of further appointments.
In the event of face to face sessions, it is kindly requested that clients leave promptly and quietly.
